Terms of Service

Last updated: September 13, 2026

Agreement

By creating a Reasonline account, or using Reasonline to design a learning experience, administer an assessment, or complete one as a student, you agree to these Terms.

The service

Reasonline Assess generates a short, adaptive follow-up dialogue (“George”) grounded in a student’s own submitted work, and produces an evidence record for the instructor’s review. Reasonline Learn (Early Access) helps instructors design AI-supported Learning Experiences around course capabilities and can capture evidence of what a student demonstrates while learning. Reasonline Complete (Early Access) connects evidence from Learn and Assess around the same capabilities. Across all three, Reasonline does not determine authorship or academic misconduct, and does not assign a grade. Every score or grading decision is made by the instructor; George’s suggestions and any Learning Intelligence recommendation are exactly that — suggestions the instructor can accept, revise, or ignore in full.

Accounts

You must provide a valid email address to create an account and are responsible for activity under your account. Students never pay for Reasonline directly — access is provided through the instructor’s or institution’s account.

Early Access (Reasonline Learn and Reasonline Complete)

Learn and Complete are offered as Early Access: usable products still undergoing product learning and refinement, made available to a limited cohort rather than instantly to every visitor. Submitting a Learn or Complete Early Access request does not create a subscription or obligate you to purchase — it is reviewed, and access, billing, and onboarding begin only after you are accepted into the current Early Access cohort. Because Learn and Complete are Early Access, capabilities, workflows, and pricing terms described for them may change more than they would for an Available Now product like Reasonline Assess; we will not increase the price of your then-current Founding Early Access term without notice.

Subscription plans and pricing

  • Reasonline Assess (individual instructor, self-serve, billed annually): $99/year, after a free usage-bounded trial. No credit card is required to trial.
  • Reasonline Learn and Reasonline Complete (Founding Early Access, request-based, not instant self-service checkout): $149/year and $229/year respectively for an instructor’s first two years. Billing for Learn and Complete begins after acceptance into the Early Access cohort, not at the time of the request.
  • Reasonline Team (Assess, 2–20 instructor seats, billed annually): volume pricing — your total seat count determines a single per-seat annual rate applied to every seat in your purchase, not a rate that changes seat-by-seat within one order. 2 to 5 seats: $94/seat/year. 6 to 10 seats: $92/seat/year. 11 to 20 seats: $89/seat/year.
  • Department, school, and institution-wide pricing is quoted separately based on scope and is governed by a separate order form or agreement, not these standard Terms.
  • A free, usage-bounded trial is available for Reasonline Assess before purchase: one live assessment, up to 35 students, and up to three dialogue rounds, at no cost and with no credit card required.
  • Pricing is subject to change. Changes apply to new subscriptions and to renewals, not to your current paid term.

See Pricing for the current, full plan structure.

Standard AI usage and reasonable use

Normal AI use for covered Reasonline learning and assessment activity — George’s dialogue, Learning Experience generation, and Learning Intelligence recommendations — is included with your subscription. You will not be charged separately by usage, and students will not see token counts, AI credits, or account-capacity warnings during a learning experience or assessment. Exceptionally intensive use, premium-model workloads, large-scale media processing or transcription, storage, or materially out-of-pattern consumption may be subject to a reasonable-use limit; if your account approaches such a limit we will contact you before restricting access, rather than silently degrading the experience for your students.

Billing and cancellation

Paid plans are billed in advance for the period selected (academic term or annual) through Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of the period unless canceled beforehand. You can cancel at any time through the Billing page; cancellation stops future renewal charges, and access continues through the end of the period already paid for.

Refunds

If a paid subscription isn’t working for you, contact info@reasonline.org within 14 days of the charge and we’ll work with you — including a refund, at our discretion, if the service didn’t function as described. Renewal charges are not refunded once the renewal period has begun, except as required by law.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use Reasonline to violate any applicable law or your institution’s academic policies;
  • attempt to access another instructor’s, student’s, or institution’s data without authorization;
  • interfere with or disrupt the service, including circumventing rate limits or security controls; or
  • use the service to collect, store, or process data you don’t have the right to submit.

Student work and data

Instructors are responsible for having the appropriate basis — institutional policy, course enrollment, applicable consent — to have their students use Reasonline for a learning experience or assessment. See our Privacy Policy for how student data is handled and which subprocessors are involved.

No authorship or misconduct determination

Reasonline generates evidence — dialogue and learning-activity records grounded in a student’s own work — for the instructor to review. It does not detect, flag, or determine academic misconduct, and it does not make any claim about whether work is AI-generated or human-generated. Any academic integrity decision is made entirely by the instructor and their institution, under their own policies, not by Reasonline.

Intellectual property

You retain ownership of the content you submit — course materials, assignments, artifacts, and responses. You grant Reasonline the limited right to process that content solely to provide the service. Reasonline, and its content, design, and George’s underlying prompts and dialogue engine, remain our property.

Disclaimers

Reasonline is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we do not guarantee any particular educational, grading, or assessment outcome.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Reasonline and its team are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.

Changes to these Terms

We’ll update the date above whenever these Terms change, and for material changes we’ll take reasonable steps to notify active account holders.
